The Sector Skills Agreement is an agreement between employers, partner organisations, the government and SkillsActive to take action on skills within the Active Leisure and Learning Industry.
A result of the government’s Skills White Paper in 2003 and further endorsed in the 2005 Skills White Paper which put employers’ needs at centre stage in the design and delivery of training outlining Skills Sector Agreements as a key process to achieve this.
As part of a multi-tiered solution Bryteworks developed a major new section of the Skills Active website dedicated to providing detailed information to a wide audience regarding the Sector Skills Agreement. Following a highly user centric approach the website offer a range of information to user according to their specific needs, as determined by their geographical location, type of organisation or sub-sector of the industry.
As part of the campaign to raise awareness within the industry of the Sector Skills Agreement, Bryteworks is helping the SkillsActive to develop a regular e-newsletter that can distributed to SkillsActive members. In addition Bryteworks has developed a sophisticated events calendar system on the website which shows events according to the area of the site the user is viewing, ensuring effective but simple user personalisation. Additional Features include a Flash based Process Diagram to assist users in fully understanding the process.
The website includes a sophisticated, but easy to operate and manage, administration interface, allowing staff at SkillsActive to update the site regularly without the need for in-depth technical knowledge.
As a platform agnostic organisation, Bryteworks was able to offer, and help SkillsActive choose from, a wide range of content management systems, thus ensuring that the solution provided would meet their present and future needs. An Open Source Solution called Plone was chosen for its superior power, flexibility and large and growing support community.
